There are few people that we ever speak with that truly understand the gravity of what being a parent means. Especially knowing that culture is constantly telling us to parent a certain way, it is very easy to become overwhelmed at the prospect of being a parent. Yet in our conversation with Dr. Paul David Tripp, he sets our minds at ease when it comes to parenting. He explains how we can shape and nurture healthy relationships with our children while remaining firm on the truths of God’s Word. And whether we are talking about discipline, or rebellion, or even regrets, there is wisdom and compassion to be found from Dr. Tripp that every parent can benefit from hearing. 

There is nothing that brings anxiety to a parent’s mind more than having to have the sex talk with their child. And with so much pop culture being filled with adult content, it can be very easy to let it educate our children on sex if we are not taking the initiative to do so. In our conversation with Rebecca Lindenbach, we talk about how we can maneuver through the sex talk without it being miserable for both parties involved. We discuss ways a parent can address this awkward conversation and the way God intended sex to be experienced.

How do you parent when it seems like your children are just a bunch of little punks and all you want to do throw in the towel? We know that every day is not happiness and sunshine as a parent and that is why our conversation with Dr. Bill Smith is so important for us to have. We talk about how to make a lasting impression on our children without us necessarily having to cave on our ideals or need for discipline. There is no formula for building a strong faith in your children. But there are so many practical things that we can implement that will help our children come to know Jesus. That is the conversation we have with Jon Tyson. Jon takes us through fundamental teachings of Scripture and adds a unique twist on them that helps us better know how to engage the world in the present while still longing for eternity that God has placed on our hearts. Jon gives great advice on how we can use worldly success, identity, and purpose to point our children and students back to Jesus.

Authenticity is one of those words in our culture that everyone spreads around but no one really knows what they mean when they way it. And raising up an authentic man of God can be even more of confusing task. During our conversation with Jonathan, we discuss what makes authenticity so appealing to younger generations and how this concept of authenticity can be misleading. Evans also breaks down what it means to be someone that chooses obedience as a means to freedom and how we can use that to teach true freedom and authenticity to our children.

Living in a blended home comes with a unique and surprising set of challenges that can be very complex and frustrating if handled poorly. Luckily, in our interview with Ron Deal, he gives us some amazing advice for those of us that live in a blended home. Beyond the very practical suggestions of ways to handle boundaries or rules or just general life changes that come with living in a blended home, we also talk about the necessity of being intentional in how we communicate with our children. So whether you are a member of a blended family, a single parent, a couple contemplating adoption, or even a friend wanting to know how to better minister to families in your church and community, this interview is a great place to begin that ongoing conversation.

How do you cultivate a household that enforces punishment without coming across as evil with your children? There are so many mixed messages that we hear from culture that is constantly telling us how to reprove our children, but most seem to either fall into the extremes of dictatorial parenting and permissive parenting. In our conversation with Kathleen Jansohn, we learn how we can be an authoritative parent that disciplines for the sake of discipleship. She breaks down how she disciplines based on a passage from 2 Timothy 3 and how we can use this same model with our children. Discipline is not meant to be a punishment but rather a teachable moment we can use to point our children back to God.

We are constantly being told that we need to be intentional with our children if we want them to have a faith that lasts… but this idea can seem very vague and convoluted at times. In our talk with Pastors Todd and Kelly Hudnall, we discuss exactly how to parent with intentionality both in and out of the church building. Through their years of experience as church leaders and their experience as parents themselves, we discuss how a parent can model their faith on a daily basis, how we can balance home life and church life, and the necessity of being an active participant within the church.

But could it be possible that all of these artists were unknowingly pointing us to the Gospel story? In our conversation with Heidi White, she explains this concept of “Monster Stories” and how we can use fantastical worlds within movies and books to point our children to the Gospel story. She challenges us to behold beauty and let beautiful things fill our homes so that our children may begin to see the true and good and beautiful Creator before giving some fantastic practicals that every parent can use with their children (no matter their ages). 

Working for Students for Life of America, as their Student Spokesperson Autumn's pro-life journey began last year when she made a rebuttal video against Teen Vogue's support of abortion. Passionate about the pro-life movement and  honored to be a voice for other young people, Autumn believes our voices are valuable, the next generation is the Pro-Life generation and that we will abolish abortion in our lifetime.

One of the most pervasive conversations that Christians are being called to have an answer for is on the topic of sex and sexuality. And this complex topic is one that we all must grapple with because of how present it is in the surrounding world. In our conversation with Tim Geiger, we want to help equip you with the tools you need to have these conversations about sex and sexuality. In our conversation with Tim, he explains why it is so hard to have these conversations but also explains how we can overcome them while addressing the shame that we or our children might be facing. What does it mean to be a digital citizen in a culture that seems to have a new social platform show up every other week? The thought of taking ownership over technology can be a very daunting task for us, but in our interview with Chris McKenna, he wants to make show us that this is the most important thing we can do for our children. Whether it be setting up boundaries and filters for our children or modeling what it means to honor God through our technology, Chris shows us that becoming a digital citizen is doable and desperately needs to be done.

The world around us is filled with conflicting messages of truth and it is so easy to get caught up in the culture that we lose sight of the eternal. Yet in our conversation with Mark Mittelberg, he wants to make sure that parents are well equipped to teach and live out the biblical truth for our children. We discuss this idea of relativism and how we can fight against this idea that truth is whatever we want it to be. He also discusses how we can teach our children to grapple with their faith in such a way that it produces strong Christian adults later on and how we can process these truths with them as they question. So even though we live in a world that only seems to care about whatever truths apply to them, Mark provides us with the tools we need to raise spiritually healthy kids in a spiritually unhealthy world. 

Maggie dives into the complicated development of media, especially journalistic media, in the new digital age. She gives parents a solid overview of the changes that have occurred in the recent past as well as tips and observations from her time in journalism. She also talks about what it means to be a black woman in journalism, and her experiences as black woman in our modern era, sharing insights and applications you won’t find anywhere else.

The role of a parent constantly changes as our children get older and older. And sometimes it is very easy to never let them become their person. In our conversation with Brittany Barden and Eddy Macdonald, we talk about this idea of coaching and how parents can introduce a new dynamic to the parent/child relationship that will help your children thrive as they grow older. Brittany and Eddy give us insight into why coaching is so important for people of any age and how it has the power to help us think critically about our lives and our dreams. 

 “Grandkids are a reward for not killing your own kids.” And in our conversation Mark Gregston, he explains why he loves being a grandparent more than being a parent and why grandparents are such a needed thing for the rising generation. No one is questioning that parenting is difficult. But how often do we punish our children for something that they themselves don’t fully understand what they have done wrong. Especially in the classroom, how quickly are we to punish bad behavior before we understand the root of that behavior? In our conversation with Dr. Cynthia Tobias, we jump into learning styles and how God created us to learn in any setting. Dr. Tobias explains to us the keys to success that are necessary for anyone of any age to understand, let alone our children. She equips us with how to handle a strong-willed child and ways that we can meet in the middle as a form of teaching and character development.
